Countdown to christmas 2007 - 8th , 9th weekend of December

Friday Nite

How many times does it happen that you want to have a conscience free weekend ? A weekend , where there is no guilt of having pending work. It almost occurs on a Friday evening right after 5 pm where it dawns that there is a ton of work pending.

I hit the gym for a short work-out and I am too lazy to come home and cook due to which I pick up Thai food at around 9 pm. There is a lot of excitement as the test match between India and Pakistan is about to commence and I just make it in time to realize that Anil Kumble had decided to bat instead of bowling on a wicket that seemed to have enough to help the bowlers .

I am busy savoring the taste of the curry fried rice to see that India had reached 60/4. Notable is the commentary by Aashish Kapoor and Atul Wassan in the session breaks , who pitch in their views about test cricket.

I manage to get some office work ( pending ) done and attain a sense of completion. Little did I know that I was going to be treated to a run=riot between Yuvraj Singh and Saurav Ganguly . I find that the surprises in test cricket are what make it intriguing to watch , instead of sessions of constant dominance or monotony . Although the batting is spectacular , it does not prevent me from calling it a day.


Saturday


We had decided that we would plan to go to the temple, early in the morning. I manage to wake up around 10 30 and after a quick shower we are off to the temple . After visiting the deities its a prompt visit to the cafeteria . We treat ourselves to a sumptuous brunch of Idli , vada and pongal.

After this I decided to visit Carmax to check out a 2006 Subaru Impreza ( 2006) . To my disappointment , the car was no longer available for sale .

We decide to stop by Fry's electronics ( "The Temple of Electronics" ) and purchase a mini vacuum cleaner.

We head back home fearing a snow storm . We reach home by 3:30 p. Its a lazy afternoon , just doing nothing and staring at the idiot box . In the evening I manage to get some laundry done and we eat a nice dinner of Rasam and arvi curry .


I resume my session to watching cricket to see Saurav score at double ton and Irfan pathan score his maiden century in test cricket. Finally I am eager to see the debutant Ishant Sharma bowl , however I am disappointed to see that he did not look lethal and bowls a length outside off stump and lacks a good outswinger.

I sleep at 330 pm.

Sunday
I get up around 11 am . Right from the word "go" we are hooked to the idiot box and see a Tamil movie - Boys . We later decided to go the library and Costco .l However we find that its extremely risky to step out of the house. We come back and I decide to reduce the CPU noise from my desktop .

Also , I manage to post a few ads on craigslist , a 21 inch monitor and a exercise bike , during which I manage to slip while taking a photograph and fall and eventually break the bed frame.

I manage to re-install the Copper heatsink and feel a slight reduction in noise.

I come back to see some boring test cricket. Lets hope that there is some more action today.
